Powerful archiving capabilities
MailStore Server supports most standard email servers and covers three different archiving methods: full archiving of all emails as they are sent and received, archiving of existing mailboxes and files (manual or scheduled) and archiving of public folders and shared mail-boxes (manual or scheduled). There are no changes that need to be made to email servers or emails and the size of mailboxes can be reduced, if required, with rule-based deletion.
Scalable storage technology
MailStore Server delivers scalable storage technology that can lower storage requirements by using single instance archiving (duplicate content is only archived once) and compressing file attachments. It uses AES256 encryption of email bodies and attachments and supports iSCSI, Fibre Channel, NAS and SAN. MailStore Server provides a Standard Archive Store and an Advanced Archive Store:
The Standard Archive Store is suitable for most environments and requirements. It does not require an external database management system and is available immediately after setup. It can support more than a thousand archived mailboxes and the users who need to access them.
The Advanced Archive Store supports external database management systems (such as Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL) for data storage.
Full compliance
MailStore Server delivers 100% complete archiving of all emails, the archived copy being identical to the original in every way. Retention policies and legal hold can be enforced and changes and events are logged via an integrated auditing feature in Windows event log.
Emails are fully tamper-proof - it is not possible to change email content either in the graphical interface or in the internal program. AES256 encryption of email texts and attachments helps secure email content.
Fast access to archive
Users can access the MailStore Server archive in one of four ways:
- MailStore Add-in for Microsoft Outlook - allows users to access their archives using an add-in for Microsoft Outlook XP, 2003, 2007, 2010 (32-bit and 64-bit) and 2013 (32-bit and 64-bit).
- MailStore Web Access - provides access to the archive using an internet browser. Web access supports navigation through the folder structure and functions for restoring emails from the archive.
MailStore
- Mobile Web Access - access the mailstore archive regardless of your location using a smartphone or tablet (iOS, Android, Windows Phone and BlackBerry).
- MailStore IMAP Server - MailStore Server provides an integrated IMAP server that provides read-only access to the archive for any IMAP-capable email client.
When accessing the archive, users can perform a full-text search (includes file attachments) or navigate using the regular folder structure. Emails can be recovered with 'one-click restore' or simply opened in order to forward the message or send a reply.
Powerful export features
MailStore Server does not restrict businesses to a proprietary format. All archived email can be exported in a single step at any time in the standard RFC 822 format. Other export options include exporting to an Exchange server or an IMAP mailbox, sending emails to any email address, exporting to email clients, exporting to the file system and exporting to an Outlook .pst.
