Altova XML, Data Management, UML,
and Web Services Tools

Version
2010 delivers over 70 of customers’ “most wanted” features across the product
line, from support for new technologies like WSDL 2.0 in XMLSpy and MapForce,
JSON in XMLSpy and SysML in UModel, to enhanced functionality for working with
XBRL in XMLSpy, a completely new stylesheet design option in StyleVision. For
users working on the newest version of the Microsoft Windows platform, Version
2010 is also compatible with Windows 7.

Each of the tools available in the
Altova MissionKit 2010
provides a host of new features and functionality:

XMLSpy 2010 –
Powerful new functionality has been
added to the XMLSpy XML editor, including one of the most often requested
features: support for WSDL 2.0. XMLSpy 2010 also includes enhancements to its
XBRL support, including a new XBRL Taxonomy Wizard for creating XBRL taxonomies
in the graphical XBRL Taxonomy Editor, generation of comprehensive XBRL
documentation and new functionality for finding and sorting data in large XBRL
taxonomies and instance files. XMLSpy 2010 supports both JSON and XML.

MapForce 2010 –
Users can now process data from or
into multiple files, making it easy to consolidate file collections or output
data from one file to many. As a complement to this feature, input or output
file names can now be used as parameters, enabling the user to generate dynamic
mappings in which this information is defined at run-time. MapForce 2010 EDI
support has also been enhanced with EDI file validation in generated code and
support for three additional EDIFACT messages. MapForce also now supports
working with WSDL 2.0 for building and connecting to Web services and supports
the use of xsi:type in XML documents.

StyleVision 2010 –
Altova’s visual stylesheet designer,
introduces new features and usability enhancements to streamline e-Form
development and template design and portability for more efficient reporting
based on XML, XBRL and database sources. A new design paradigm allows users to
create templates within layout containers or even upload a blueprint image on
which to base their design. The new absolute positioning feature lets users
specify exact coordinates for each element to absolutely position them in their
designs. Template designers can also now utilize multiple page layouts within
the same document. New developer features, include: support for inline (HTML,
XSLT, XSL:FO) processing commands, extension templates based on any XPath,
importing external XSLT files and a disable-output-escaping function for
rendering code as-is, without it being transformed by a processor.

Authentic 2010 –
Authentic 2010 users will directly
benefit from many of the new StyleVision features for true electronic forms
design described above. The sophisticated e-Forms created in StyleVision 2010
are presented in Authentic as a true WYSIWYG-interface for XML and database
content editing, where powerful entry helpers and intelligent editing features
allow users to easily get their data into valid XML or database stores – without
ever being exposed to the underlying technical syntax. Comes with many other
usability enhancements.

UModel 2010 –New
productivity-enhancing features have been added to Version 2010 of the UModel
UML tool, including support for the Systems Modeling Language (SysML). SysML
uses seven diagram types that are part of the UML specification and includes two
additional diagrams – requirement diagrams and parametric diagrams. UModel 2010
supports all SysML v1.1 diagram types and elements with code generation in Java,
C# and Visual Basic. A new scripting environment and form editor has also been
added.

DatabaseSpy 2010 –
DatabaseSpy 2010 includes a powerful
new visual database schema comparison feature that allows users to compare
database schemas within the same database type, or across database types (all
major relational databases are supported). DatabaseSpy 2010 displays differences
between database schemas in a graphical manner and users can generate a change
script to merge changes in either direction. DatabaseSpy 2010 can also now
convert database structures between different database types.

DiffDog 2010 –
In DiffDog 2010 functionality has
been extended for comparing and merging XML and database content. DiffDog 2010
introduces a powerful XML Schema diff feature that allows users to compare and
merge XML Schemas as they evolve and then generate an XSLT file to update
corresponding XML instance documents according to the new schema.
